Informasjon fra Mirage Hobby:
Reconnaissance-bomber PZL.43 was an export type, equipped with stronger engine, of PZL.23 Karas /Crucian/ plane, designed by engineer Stanis aw Prauss. Changes introduced by Henryk Malinowski, a new worker employed in PZL /State Aviation Works/ to undertake works related with the new version of Karas, led to the development of a new type of an aircraft - PZL.43. Serial production of the first 12 PZL43 planes was initiated in 1936. The first prototype had its test flights in February 1937. Between April and May 1937 the planes were delivered to Bulgaria, except for one PZL.43 that remained in Poland in order to undergo certain armament tests. At that time the producer also thought about selling P.43 planes to Greece, Turkey, Sweden and Spain. Finally, Bulgaria was the only contractor to but this type of plane. All in all, before the break of the II World War 42 P.43 and P.43.A planes have been produced. Several PZL43A planes (from the second production series) flew in Polish Aviation Forces during the defensive war of the year 1939. After seizing Poland, Germans combined damaged PZL.43A planes and created two planes: No. 37 and 40. One of them was sent to Bulgaria in the first half of the year 1940. The second plane was examined in the Luftwaffe experimental centre in Rechlin.
